Making appropriations for the current and contingent expenses of the Indian Department and for fulfilling treaty stipulations with various Indian tribes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1898.

Pocket veto occurred after the 2nd session of the 64th Congress had adjourned sine die on March 3, 1897. The bill was presented to the President on March 2, 1897 (March 2, 1897, H. Jour., p. 253; see also H.R. Doc. No. 493, 70th Cong., 2nd sess., p. 37).
